Yep, all our animals are raised on open pastures and fed naturally. Our lambs eat only mother's milk, grass and hay. Our chickens eat all the grass and bugs they can find, and are supplemented with only non-GMO grain.
We are a small family farm, emphasis on family. We have the same concerns as you do. so far, we have not needed to use any herbicides or pesticides. In the rare case that we have needed to treat any of our animals, we have used the most natural or safest treatments. We eat here too, and we don't want to eat that junk any more than you do. We don't use the term "organic" because not only does certification cost additional money, the term is now regulated and manipulated by big agricultural interests, and you might be surprised at some of the things that can be certified but we probably would not eat willingly.
You can buy directly from our farm using our convenient online store. We are setting up weekly deliveries to the locations shown in our store. Drop us a line to suggest new locations.
OK, we admit it. That's an awfully fancy word for simple, old fashioned quality. We focus on unique breeds of animals and heirloom vegetable varieties. Then we grow them with old fashioned care. We don't ship - either out or in - for a freshness that leads to exceptional taste. And that's something you can't buy just anywhere.
Our commitment to the best flavor and the healthiest methods simply cost us more. We start with the best bred animals, raise them more slowly, and spend more time working to keep them happy and healthy. As an example, a day old chick of quality breeds costs us more than a ready to cook chicken at the grocery store. Those cheap grocery store birds are raised in a staggeringly short time, and they are fed so much cheap, fattening feed that many cannot even walk by about 5 or 6 weeks. Many die of heart attacks before they can even be harvested. We feed a more expensive, non-GMO feed, and grow slower - almost triple the amount of time, moving them to fresh pasture daily. Slower growth equals more flavor, and the more natural diet enhanced with grass and bugs means our birds are healthier and happier. You will be too. We put much more care into all of our products. We start with the best, then provide the best care to ensure you receive the best food. I guess another answer is that they aren't that similar.
That's a Good Question!
Sure hope I have a good answer...
I'll get to work on it and get back to you soon.
Have a great day!
