Hey There !
Dave from McElhoes Family Farm/Belmont here.
Not a lot to share this week, we have been busy trying to button up for winter. The weather sure has been weird for a while now. I still am trying to adapt, but I reckon that ain't my strong suit.
I have started my planning for next season, and I figured it would be best to ask you what works for you.
How would you prefer to order your chickens? Is our Chicken Club Helpful for you? (It is for us, of course. Thank You!) We have been thinking of getting a bit more formal, or scheduled, with our delivery. Would that interest you?
We are hoping to ramp the lamb operations back up starting next year. We had culled heavily for behavioral issues over the last couple of years. Escape artists, no matter how wonderful they taste, are just too much work. Also, I'm not getting any younger. This year, bad weather and a couple of unfortunate incidents limited the number of lambs available for sale this year. Let me know if you might be interested in a lamb for next year. There is no obligation, this is just for planning purposes.
Our farm stand has been a success for us, and we plan on keeping it for next year. There is not much in it right now, but we have left it open mainly for our egg customers, and if I can get to it, for our campfire wood customers. Are there any particular veggies you would like us to grow for you next year?
That is a lot of questions, I know, but I value your input. I started out doing these things to feed my family, then we started to sell whatever we had left over to friends. Now we have reached a point where we have more ability to produce what our friends want. So, seriously, let me know, and I will try to supply what you want. If I don't have it, maybe I know someone. I think it is high time we decentralized our food supply and got to know our neighbors.
Please consider these questions, and let me know your thoughts. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for Listening,
Dave
