It's Still a New Year, Right?

Happy New Year!

Dave from McElhoes Family Farm/Belmont here. There’s an old tradition that I hear is becoming a new trend going around on social media. People are sharing what they’re leaving behind in 2025. I’m not one for Instagram and all that (yet, I suppose), but I thought maybe I could share here.

I’m leaving behind my fear of this newsletter. So here goes...

Oh Hey !

If you’re anything like me, the last couple of weeks have been intense at home. Wait. Who am I kidding? The last couple months. (The holidays truly throw me for a loop!!)... Come to think of it, this might have been a lifetime commitment to chaos.

Well, today Katie and a few of the neighborhood kids are sledding in the East Pasture. The bread is in the oven, and I’ve finally had time to do some reflecting of my own. So I decided to share with you. Cool?

First, I am going to get better at letting you know what is going on here at the farm. You came here looking for healthy, flavorful food, and you cannot be expected to plan if you don't know what we are growing. I have truly stunk at doing this, and I vow to do better.

I’m even looking at planners after this email too. I’ve just got to get my bliss back! Plus, I figure If I plan better it will be easier on you.

Anyway…something I do want more of in 2025?

Teaching!

I really love teaching you and everyone "Homesteading Hacks". So I’m going to try to keep track of the things we do here and share them with you. After all, we were homesteading before it was trendy.

So don't hesitate to email me and ask about gardening, chickens , life on the farm, anything you might be curious about. I have experience (both kinds!) and opinions (probably too many). If I know I'd like to share it with you.

I hope you’re excited like I am about this!

And don’t forget to hit reply and let me know what you’re leaving behind in 2024 and what you want to see more of for 2025!

And if you’re looking to buy better food in 2025, I hope you consider us at the McElhoes Family Farm.

I’m rootin’ for ya,

-Dave
